The Mayor of Tàrrega, Alba Pijuan, has described the government pact between Junts and CUP this March as 'unnatural,' claiming the alliance between the right and far-left lacks a common vision.

The ERC politician defended her administration's work alongside the PSC. Pijuan highlighted that the opposition blocked the 2026 budget, which at 24 million euros was the largest in the history of the Urgell capital.

"This pact will not provide the stability the city needs; it is a strange couple with two completely different models."

The political crisis peaked after the council rejected the budget on February 19. Following a failed confidence vote on February 25, the opposition moved forward with a motion of censure. Pijuan has served as mayor since 2019, leading a minority government since last July.
