Andorra-La Seu d'Urgell Bus Service Increases Frequencies and Improves Operations

The Government of Andorra is enhancing the cross-border connection with more departures and real-time information starting in August and September.

The Government of Andorra will strengthen the bus service between the Principality and La Seu d'Urgell starting in August, with increased frequencies and technological upgrades planned for September.

From next August, the bus service between Andorra and La Seu d'Urgell will see a significant increase in its frequencies and schedules. This enhancement aims to promote alternatives to private vehicles and facilitate daily travel between the two locations, fostering a more integrated and sustainable mobility model.
Currently, the route offers 29 services from Monday to Saturday and 13 on Sundays. With the new plan, Monday to Saturday departures will rise to 32, with a bus every 30 minutes. Operating hours will extend from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM from Caldea, and from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM from La Seu d'Urgell. On Sundays and public holidays, frequencies will increase from 13 to 16, also operating on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, with hours from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM from Caldea and from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM from La Seu d'Urgell.
Starting September 1st, the HIFE group will introduce an additional vehicle from Monday to Friday, bringing the total daily frequencies to 40 per direction. These new vehicles are hybrid and adapted. New departures from Caldea will include times such as 7:45 AM, 9:45 AM, 11:45 AM, 3:45 PM, 4:45 PM, 5:45 PM, 7:45 PM, and 9:45 PM. From La Seu d'Urgell, departures will be added at 6:45 AM, 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, 2:45 PM, 4:45 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:45 PM.
Integration into the FEDASolucions technological platform, scheduled for September, will provide users with real-time information on bus locations, occupancy, and service quality. This system will unify information with regular national routes and will lead to the progressive replacement of current travel cards with new ones, with automatic transfer of available journeys.
A review of fares, unchanged since 2023, will result in an average increase of 1.79%, while maintaining discounts and social benefits. The expiry of season tickets will also be modified, changing from three months to being linked to fare changes.
Demand for the route has grown significantly, from an average of 341 daily users in 2023 to 735 in 2025, with a total of 268,453 trips recorded. This increase, over 100% since the 2023 improvements, solidifies public transport as a preferred option for cross-border travel.
