Resident Heidy Florentino Ortiz, who moved to la Seu d'Urgell in 2023, views learning Catalan as a matter of respect and a vital step toward becoming a full member of society.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Argentina, Florentino arrived in Catalonia three years ago. She is currently studying Marketing and Advertising while taking Catalan lessons at Vincles d'Òmnium Alt Urgell, driven by the belief that language is central to local identity.

"Speaking Catalan is a sign of gratitude for the warm welcome we have received. Personally, I feel very grateful."
