Over a hundred education professionals attended the Autism Pyrenees Conference in La Seu d’Urgell, focusing on the need to equip inclusive schools with better tools and resources.

La Seu d’Urgell hosted the second edition of the Autism Pyrenees Conference, this year specifically targeting education professionals. The event brought together teachers, leisure activity leaders, after-school educators, and individuals involved in social support.
Berta Vidal, president of the Associació Autisme Pirineu, emphasized the importance of promoting inclusive education and providing it with the necessary instruments to be effective. She highlighted that the call for assistance for inclusive schools is a plea that concerns all of society, but directly impacts families and autistic individuals.

"It's not just as families of autistic people, but as a society that we believe we shouldn't leave teachers alone because this concerns us all. Of course, as families of autistic people or autistic individuals who are our members, it's a cry that we need help in inclusive education. This affects us directly, beyond supporting other demands."

The conference, which began with in-person presentations in La Seu d’Urgell and was simultaneously available online, also served to introduce support materials for assisting individuals with autism.
Vidal explained that a model was suggested for creating a 'calm space' within classrooms, based on practical experiences and professional advice. Additionally, a selection of books was presented, including reference works on autism and children's stories to explain the condition.
The event, organized by the Associació Autisme Pirineu, concluded with practical workshops focusing on classroom experiences, communication strategies, and the creation of safe environments.
