The political groups Junts and CUP have reached an agreement to file a motion of no confidence tomorrow at Tàrrega City Council to remove Mayor Alba Pijuan from office.

The move follows a failed vote of confidence last Wednesday for the ERC mayor. Both opposition parties argue that the current coalition with the PSC has been unable to pass budgets or maintain a stable majority in the capital of the Urgell region.
Under the new agreement, Rosa Maria Perelló (Junts) will return as mayor, a position she previously held from 2011 to 2019. Laia Recasens from CUP will serve as the first deputy mayor, creating a shared leadership structure.

"The decision comes as a direct consequence of the political blockade generated by an executive unable to articulate a majority."

The new government plans to focus on public housing, urban maintenance, and the municipalization of the Teatre Ateneu. A new Language department will also be established as part of the policy agreement between the two ideologically different parties.
