The political groups Junts and CUP filed a motion of no confidence this evening at Tàrrega City Council to remove Mayor Alba Pijuan and initiate a new governing phase.

The move follows a failed vote of confidence last Wednesday for the ERC mayor. Under the new agreement, Rosa Maria Perelló (Junts) will return as Mayor of Tàrrega, a position she previously held from 2011 to 2019, while Laia Recasens (CUP) will serve as first deputy mayor.
The new administration will focus on public services, including the municipalization of the Teatre Ateneu and a new Local Housing Plan. Junts will manage Urban Planning and Economic Management, while CUP will oversee Culture, Energy Transition, and a new Language department.

"The decision is a direct consequence of the political deadlock generated by an executive unable to articulate a majority."
