Entities and associations in La Seu d'Urgell are in the final stages of organizing activities for the Main Festival. The week before the official start, several events are scheduled to build anticipation for the festivities.
Among the classic preparations are the rehearsals for the Ball Cerdà, which will begin on Monday, August 24, at 6 PM at the Pau Claris school. These rehearsals will take place every afternoon and evening throughout the week leading up to the festival. Additionally, cinema, music, and sports activities have been organized to entertain during these preliminary days.
“"This year, the staging will be inspired by the universe of Venetian masquerade balls, a world of mystery, elegance, and fantasy where masks hide identities and characters come to life amidst music, fire, and the darkness of the night."
The traditional Correfoc, organized by the Diables de l’Alt Urgell, will take place on Monday, August 31, at 10:30 PM, starting and ending at Plaça dels Oms. The route will follow the streets of the historic center: Carrer Major, Carrer dels Canonges, Plaça del Mercat, and Plaça del Pati Palau. The final firecracker display will be in front of the Town Hall, followed by the burning of figures and a pyromusical show.
This year's theme for the correfoc draws inspiration from Venetian masquerade balls, blending mystery, elegance, and fantasy with fire and gunpowder to create a spectacle for all audiences. This aesthetic will merge with the traditional correfoc's dance, masks, and mystery.
With 33 years of history, the correfoc is one of the most attended events, drawing over 3,000 participants last year according to council estimates. To ensure safety, attendees are urged to exercise civic responsibility and follow the instructions of the security and emergency services.
