This intervention is part of the Neighborhood Plan, a municipal initiative aimed at renewing and improving the urban quality of the city's historic center. Carrer dels Estudis, approximately 52 meters long, has not undergone any significant work for years, leading to a progressive degradation of both its pavement and service installations.
The project outlines two main lines of action. Firstly, it will focus on improving the existing infrastructure by removing current asbestos-containing fiber cement pipes for sewage and drinking water. These will be replaced with approved materials, and a new separate network will be implemented. Secondly, the current pavement will be completely renewed with a more modern and functional design. Regarding lighting, new luminaires similar to those on Carrer Major will be installed to unify the aesthetic of the historic center, optimize maintenance, and enhance lighting efficiency.
The total investment for this project amounts to €117,703.60 (VAT included), with an estimated execution period of approximately four months. Given the street's location within the archaeological protection perimeter of La Seu d'Urgell's historic center, the project includes specific budget allocations for archaeological monitoring. Before earthworks begin, the contractor must submit an archaeological intervention plan led by professional personnel to ensure the preservation of heritage.
Through this intervention, the council reaffirms its commitment to improving the city's heart, bringing Carrer dels Estudis up to architectural and urban quality standards befitting its importance as an access route to the center.
