The historic site of Mas de Colom hosted nearly 300 attendees, filling the planned capacity, to relive the experience of the military hospital that operated during the final months of the Spanish Civil War, specifically between April 1938 and January 1939.
The reenactment, titled Memories of a Hospital in Mas de Colom, was made possible by the collaboration of the historical reenactment group Exèrcit de l’Ebre and over twenty volunteers. The proposal was based on research by Jaume Ramon Solé and included explanations from Dr. Jordi Jara, who dedicated this edition to the topic of blood transfusions. The event also received support from the Tàrrega City Council and Òmnium Cultural.
This activity is part of the Historical Memory Week organized in Tàrrega. The program includes other events such as guided tours of the Pou de Gel and the cemetery, the presentation of the photography book Maybe Never Again by Espe Pons, and a route through the Stolpersteine (remembrance stones) installed in homage to Tàrrega's deportees to Nazi concentration camps. These stones were inaugurated on May 25, 2021, a date that now commemorates the Day of Historical and Democratic Memory of Tàrrega.
Additionally, on May 28, Jaume Ramon will present his publication focusing on the international brigades and the Mas de Colom hospital.
