Miquel Travé, originally from La Seu d’Urgell, has lived up to expectations and claimed the gold medal in the Kayak Cross World Cup final. The competition took place at the Parc Olímpic del Segre, located in the paddler's hometown. Travé and Slovenia's Ziga Lin Hocevar, who finished second, were the only competitors to complete the course in under ninety seconds, with times of 89.08 and 89.43 respectively. France's Nicolas Gestin rounded out the podium with 91.14 seconds.
In the women's competition, which concluded the day's events at this World Cup event, Lleida representatives Miren Lazkano and Mònica Doria finished in second and fourth place, respectively. Lazkano (104.55 seconds) was surpassed by Brazil's Ana Satila, who clocked a time of 103.85 seconds. Czech paddler Tereza Kneblova took third with 104.64 seconds.
Mònica Doria, an Andorran paddler who had previously won a bronze medal in the Canoe Slalom final, was unable to add another medal this time, narrowly missing the podium with a time of 104.88 seconds. Consequently, participants from the Lleida region secured two new medals on this day: gold for Miquel Travé and silver for Miren Lazkano.
