The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the link between three raids on tobacco shops in Urgell and the burning of several vehicles, allegedly used by the thieves to commit the crimes and erase forensic evidence.

Police believe a single criminal group is behind a series of violent incidents recorded this week. The modus operandi involves stealing cars, mostly Seat Ibiza models, to travel to the shops and later setting them on fire in isolated areas.
The main events took place last Tuesday, with three robbery attempts in just over an hour. The first raid occurred in Belianes at 10:55 AM, followed by another in Anglesola at 11:08 AM, and a final one in Bellpuig around noon. In each case, a masked man threatened staff with a knife while an accomplice waited in the car.
Despite the multiple attacks, the criminals only managed to steal money from the Anglesola shop, as owners in the other towns fought back. The vehicle used was found burnt in Tàrrega a few hours later, adding to four other cars intentionally set on fire on Monday in the Corb Valley.
