The town of Tàrrega is set for a leadership change on March 18 after Junts per Tàrrega and CUP agreed on a motion of no confidence against the current administration.

The move follows Mayor Alba Pijuan's failure to pass the 2026 budget during a confidence vote last week. This political deadlock allowed the opposition to propose Rosa Maria Perelló as the alternative candidate for the mayoralty.
Under the new agreement, Perelló will manage Finance alongside her role as mayor. CUP representatives will take key positions, including Laia Recasens as first deputy mayor and Miquel Nadal leading Culture and a new Language department.

"The motion is the result of a forced pact between two parties that are the antithesis of each other and without a shared project."

The extraordinary plenary session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, at 12:00 PM in the Town Hall, marking the end of the current ERC and PSC minority government.
