The shelter is currently home to 70 dogs. While not at full numerical capacity, many residents require individual housing due to stress or reactive behavior, which limits the available space. The recent arrival of eight abandoned puppies from Bellpuig has further strained the quarantine area.
Spokesperson Mireia Segarra emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the safety of both current and future residents. The organization is calling for urgent special adoptions for dogs that require a higher level of commitment, which would allow the shelter to reopen its doors to new cases.
“"We have done everything possible to manage the situation, but we cannot put the dogs already living here or those who might arrive at risk. It would be irresponsible."
