The city of Tàrrega will host this Saturday the first Urgell Devils Gathering, a celebration commemorating the 40th anniversary of the local Diables BAT.

The event will feature approximately 250 participants, including members from four invited devil groups: those from Vall del Corb, Foc Foll de Bellpuig, Espetec d'Agramunt, and the hosts, Diables BAT. Of this total, 150 will be group members, comprising devils and drummers, supplemented by volunteers, technical staff, and 'gegants' (giants).
The festivities will commence at 6:00 PM with four parades through the city center. These performances will be accompanied by the percussion groups of each invited troupe and will include popular cultural elements from Tàrrega, such as the giants from Fal·lera Gegantera, the Tararots, the Diablesa de la BAT, and the Drac Ciutat de Tàrrega. Following this, at 7:00 PM, a popular snack will be offered, followed by a devilish musical bingo and a fellowship dinner for all participants at the plaça de les Nacions Sense Estat.
The highlight of the celebration will be the grand joint 'correfoc' (fire run), scheduled for 11:00 PM, starting from the plaça Major with the participation of all invited groups. The event will conclude from 12:30 AM onwards with an open-air concert by the local group Her Majesty, also held at the plaça de les Nacions Sense Estat.
The Diables BAT group aims for this gathering to become a recurring event in various towns within the region, seeking to promote 'correfocs', which they feel are becoming increasingly rare in the Lleida regions.
This celebration marks the culmination of a 40th-anniversary commemoration that began weeks prior with the inauguration of an exhibition at the Sala Marsà, showcasing the group's history through photographs, costumes, and pyrotechnic material. A mural dedicated to the group, created by a student from the Escola d'Art Ondara, was also unveiled.

"This is the best way we've found to celebrate our 40th anniversary, by engaging in culture, camaraderie, and regional spirit with the aim of promoting fire runs, which are becoming increasingly scarce in the Lleida regions."

The Diables BAT de Tàrrega were founded in 1986 as a section of the Grup de Teatre BAT, and since their inception, they have focused on a theatricalized fire performance model. Today, they are recognized as one of the prominent devil groups in the Lleida regions.
