The Paupaterres festival in Tàrrega is gearing up for its 28th edition, scheduled from July 9th to 11th. The event will host around fifteen musical acts, with notable performances from bands celebrating significant anniversaries. Sopa de Cabra marks 40 years, Els Amics de les Arts celebrate 20 years, and local band La Follia commemorates its fifth anniversary. Also performing are La Pegatina and The Tyets.
This edition is particularly significant following last year's challenges, which included the suspension of the final day due to a severe storm. The cancellation resulted in a considerable emotional and financial impact, jeopardizing the festival's future, further complicated by a documentation error that prevented insurance coverage. Audience support has been crucial for morale.
Due to financial constraints, the organizers have decided to shorten the festival from four days to three to ensure a high-quality lineup. The opening will take place on Thursday, July 9th, with a free event at the plaça de la Bassa in Sant Eloi park, featuring a communal dinner and performances by Balkan Paradise Orchestra, Partiperes, and Dj Bruga.
The main festival days will be on July 10th and 11th at the municipal campsite grounds. Friday will feature Sopa de Cabra, The Tyets, and Malifeta, while Saturday will see performances by La Pegatina, Els Amics de les Arts, and La Follia. The lineup is rounded out by Blu Nana, Dj Ladyback, Efímer, Lil Marra, Paula Milara, Dj Frunk, and The Dance.
The festival also brings back PaupaKids, a special family program for Saturday afternoon, including water inflatables, bubble games, and a foam party. The children's music segment will feature the group BETA from SX3.
To date, approximately 3,000 season tickets and a thousand day tickets have been sold. Organizers anticipate a large turnout and expect to sell out in the coming days.
The 28th edition of Paupaterres is organized by the Associació Paupaterres and the Culture Department of the Tàrrega City Council, with support from the Provincial Council of Lleida (IEI), the Urgell Regional Council, and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
