La Seu d'Urgell has kicked off the Presbit Ciutat la Seu d’Urgell basketball tournament, an event gathering over 180 players with disabilities from 16 Catalan clubs throughout the weekend.

The event, organized by Sedis Bàsquet, reaches its sixteenth edition and has become a key fixture for inclusive sports, providing a platform for individuals with disabilities to compete with their teams.
Since early morning, the Palau d’Esports has hosted the initial phase matches, which have determined the subsequent knockout rounds. In addition to the main competition, the tournament features a shooting contest and an 'all star' game with players most voted by coaches.
Local representation has been led by the host, Sedis Airam, with two teams, alongside participation from Únics Cerdanya and MoraBanc Andorra.

"One of the tournament's keys is the camaraderie among teams; friendships and bonds are formed that go beyond the ball and the basket."

Juanfran Paredes, head of the social area at Sedis Bàsquet, highlighted the importance of the camaraderie and the bonds formed among participants. The two-day format, introduced two years ago, fosters this interaction, as over 300 people, including players and companions, lodge together in the town, making the event a city-wide initiative.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday midday, with the final match at 12 PM and the awards ceremony scheduled for 12:30 PM.
