The Unió de Pagesos union has confirmed its leadership in Alt Urgell and the Alt Pirineu region following last Friday's elections, receiving overwhelming support from the local farming community.

While the union achieved 47% of the total vote across Catalonia, its performance in the Alt Pirineu reached 44%. The results were particularly strong in Alt Urgell, where 71% of eligible voters participated, granting the organization 67.5% of the ballots.

"The elections are a mere formality; we must continue our work, keep fighting, and keep defending the interests of farmers and the territory."

Joan Guitart · Territorial Coordinator of Unió de Pagesos
Key demands for the Pyrenean region include effective control of wild animal overpopulation and protection for livestock against bears and wolves. Furthermore, the union is calling for improved mobile coverage in mountainous areas to enable the use of GPS tracking for cattle.
The Agricultural Table will be formed by Unió de Pagesos and JARC, as other candidates failed to reach the 15% minimum threshold for representation.
