During the general assembly held this Sunday, members agreed to start the season with 5 irrigation turns (known as 'hidros') available for farms. This positive outlook contrasts with the severe drought of April 2023, which led to an unprecedented early closure of the canal infrastructure.
“"We will record every time someone irrigates to track water usage, but for the first two months, there will be general shifts."
President Amadeu Ros explained that the management system has been simplified to increase agility. For the first 60 days, farmers will not need to place individual orders. The community also expects water availability to increase further as the mountain snow begins to melt in the coming weeks.
