The duty court in Balaguer decreed conditional release yesterday for the individual, who had been arrested on Wednesday in Agramunt. He is accused of assaulting a supermarket in Tàrrega on Thursday of the previous week, an incident where he was restrained by the quick action of the store's employees and customers.
Although the Prosecutor's Office had requested the accused be held in provisional prison, communicated and without bail, the judge opted for freedom. This judicial decision imposes on the individual the obligation to appear in court whenever required.
In addition to the mandatory court appearance, the judge ruled that the accused is prohibited from leaving Spanish territory. To ensure compliance with this precautionary measure, his passport was immediately withdrawn.
The accused, aged 44, is known to authorities, as he accumulates around twenty previous criminal records for various offenses.
