The 26th Environmental Fair in Tàrrega, taking place from October 15th to 18th, will focus on agroecology and the preservation of the natural environment, coinciding with Bio Week.

The Department of Economic Promotion of Tàrrega is organizing the 26th Environmental Fair, a four-day event dedicated to sustainability and local, organic food. The fair dates coincide with Bio Week promoted by the Department of Agriculture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Activities will be spread across several emblematic city spaces, including Plaça del Carme, the Palau dels Marquesos de la Floresta, the Biblioteca Germanes Güell, the Societat Ateneu premises, and Parc de Sant Eloi. The main day, Saturday, October 17th, will host the Eco and KM-0 Products Fair-Market in Plaça del Carme, featuring 37 exhibitors, including food producers, health and wellness businesses, and environmental organizations.
The Mayor of Tàrrega, Rosa Maria Perelló, highlighted the event's long history and commitment to environmental preservation, offering everyday tools for individual contribution. Meanwhile, the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Jaume Vall, emphasized the goal of reaching younger generations and fostering conscious habits within families.
The fair will include educational activities for schools, such as the citizen science project Ritme Natura by CREAF, which will teach secondary students to observe the effects of climate change and use the iNaturalist app.
The public program will begin on Thursday the 15th at the Palau dels Marquesos de la Floresta with an exhibition of decorative pumpkins by farmer Rafa Alegre. This exhibition will include a free workshop on bird nest boxes and can be visited until Sunday the 18th. A tasting and pairing of autumn products with Montse Fabrés and Ratafies Arrels will also take place.
At the Biblioteca Germanes Güell, on Friday the 16th, Ramon Oromí will lead a workshop on the environmental footprint of digital devices. Subsequently, the cooperative Som Energia will host a session on 100% renewable electricity.
On Saturday the 17th, Plaça del Carme will be the main venue for the Eco and KM-0 Products Fair-Market, offering agroecological products, seeds, nature stories, and sustainable innovations like the BIOW device.
There will also be free community participation workshops, such as the 'Jardí de l’ànima' workshop with artist Ainoa Soler, and a textile reuse workshop by Upcycled Cartaes, which has saved a million liters of water. Other workshops will include natural air fresheners, moving butterflies, tastings, and cookie making.
The collective Eixarcolant will present its 'Singulars' project, connecting Catalan agri-food producers with local shops, including a tasting of local producers. The Escola Agrària de Tàrrega will organize a session on 'Sustainable Diet and Plant-Based Products' with a tasting of apples from Ponent.
On Sunday the 18th, Parc de Sant Eloi will host activities by the Agents Rurals (Rural Agents), including a demonstration by the canine unit, the play 'L’Acampada de l’Oriol', and the release of recovered fauna. Rural agent Miquel Rodríguez highlighted the play's importance in raising awareness about nature conservation.
The fair will conclude with a vermouth in the park featuring products from the Paupaterres food truck and music from the solo project of Miquel Pascual.
