On the occasion of International Women Writers' Day, celebrated on October 19, the Department of Feminisms of the Tàrrega City Council has organized a series of activities titled 'Writers and Criminal Literature'. The events will take place between October 21 and 25.
On Wednesday, October 21, at 7 PM, the Germanes Güell Library (located in Plaça de Sant Antoni) will host a book club dedicated to crime novels written by women. The activity, moderated by translator and linguistic corrector Mireia Gabernet, will provide a space for discussion of readings. Free childcare services are available.
The following day, Thursday, October 22, at the same time and at the Germanes Güell Library, a writing workshop will be held, led by writer and social educator Raquel Gámez-Serrano. Gámez-Serrano has a background in novels, short stories, and essays. Prior registration is required.
The cycle will conclude on Sunday, October 25, at 12 PM, at the old slaughterhouse (Carrer de la Solana). A roundtable discussion will focus on crime literature written by women, a genre that often addresses issues such as gender-based violence and social inequalities. The session will feature writers Raquel Gámez-Serrano, Montse Sanjuan, and Anna Maria Villalonga, and will be moderated by journalist and writer Gemma Peris. The event will include a wine tasting from the Analec winery.
