The Tàrrega City Council has received a subsidy of €1,000 from the Generalitat de Catalunya to draft the forest fire delimitation plan (PPI). This tool is fundamental for prevention policies ahead of the upcoming summer campaign.

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food has granted this aid to the local entity, which did not have this planning instrument. The main objective of the plan is to identify and map inhabited areas, urbanizations, and isolated buildings that are in a vulnerable situation in the face of a possible fire.
With this document, the council will be able to determine the obligation to establish and maintain perimeter protection strips to prevent the spread of fires, minimize risks to inhabited areas, and ensure compliance with municipal regulations on fire prevention.
This initiative represents a step forward in protecting the municipality's natural environment and the safety of its residents. The news follows serious agricultural and forest fires, such as the one declared on July 9 in Guimerà, which affected the population of Tàrrega and led to event cancellations.
