The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, announced that starting Monday, December 15, restrictions on access to the natural environment will be reduced in five Vallès Occidental municipalities located in the second radius of the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak.

The municipalities benefiting from this relaxation are Castellbisbal, Vacarisses, Matadepera, Ullastrell, and Viladecavalls, which are within the 20 km radius but outside the 6 km primary focus. These residents will be able to access wooded areas, riverbeds, and cultivated fields again for walks or individual activities like cycling.

"We should try not to bring large crowds of people to the area, but we will relax restrictions."

Despite the flexibility, the Government maintains the prohibition of organized and communal leisure activities within the natural environment across the entire established perimeter, including all Vallès Occidental municipalities. This call for “citizen responsibility” remains crucial for containing the outbreak.
The strictest restrictions remain in place in Terrassa and Rubí, which are still within the 6-kilometer radius of the focus. The situation of the Sant Llorenç del Munt Natural Park is particularly sensitive, as it lies on the border of the affected zone and is a key point for surveillance.
The Government confirmed that the number of positive ASF cases has risen to 16, all within the same restricted area. To contain the disease, the objective is to halve the wild boar population, intensifying captures, especially in the Sant Llorenç Natural Park, where the density of these animals is higher than the Catalan average. Until Sunday midnight, 70 control points will be maintained with the participation of 44 local police forces.
