The Castellbisbal City Council has expanded its network of climate shelters to cope with this summer's high temperatures, incorporating new municipal spaces into the AMB's Metropolitan Network of Climate Shelters.

This summer, Castellbisbal has four climate shelters integrated into the Metropolitan Network of Climate Shelters of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB): the Josep Mateu i Miró Library, the Senior Citizens' Center, Lluís Companys Square, and Neus Català Park. These spaces are part of the measures to protect the population during intense heat episodes.
This year, the City Council is also designating other municipal facilities as climate shelter spaces. Although not part of the Metropolitan Network, these spaces extend territorial coverage and reinforce proximity climate protection, specifically designed for vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, infants, or those with fewer resources, offering thermal comfort, rest, and safety.
The Senior Citizens' Center operates as a shelter from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, extending its hours to 7:00 PM during daytime heatwaves.
The Josep Mateu i Miró Library opens as a shelter from Monday to Thursday, 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM, and on Fridays, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. On Saturdays and during August, the library will be closed.
Additionally, the City Council provides other air-conditioned spaces with drinking water and seating for short stays:
As a complementary measure during nighttime heatwaves, the municipal summer swimming pool will open exceptionally and free of charge from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
