The spokesperson for Renfe, Antonio Carmona, confirmed that during overnight inspections to restore the train service, a fallen tree was detected in Castellbisbal, directly affecting the launch of the R4 line. This incident currently forces trains to run on a single track, with a limited service of two trains per hour in each direction between Martorell Central and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
“"Work has been carried out throughout the night to start with maximum normality, and efforts are underway to regain user confidence."
Carmona assured that teams will work “throughout the day” to remove the tree and resolve the incident, aiming to recover double-track circulation. In addition to the disruption on the R4, another incident was found on the R1 tracks, specifically between Badalona and Montgat, where trains are also running on a single track while repairs are made.
Regarding Renfe staff, who have already announced a strike for early February, the spokesperson indicated that they reported to work this Friday “as planned” and that the number of trains is as scheduled, apart from the necessary reductions due to the failures on the R1 and R4 lines. Although user data is not yet available, Carmona noted that Friday is a day with a higher tendency for teleworking.
