The pharmaceutical company Acofarma, based in Terrassa, hosted a meeting with representatives from the Spanish Society of Individualized Medicine (LASEMI) to reinforce collaboration and drive new projects.

Acofarma's facility in Terrassa recently welcomed representatives from the Spanish Society of Individualized Medicine (LASEMI), including its president, Tomás Abascal, and vice-president José Antonio Sánchez-Brunete. The working day served to strengthen cooperation between both entities and advance new projects related to individualized medicine.
The Valles-based company showcased its laboratory operations to the delegation, highlighting its commitment to the fractionation and distribution of raw materials for magistral formulation, a total quality system recently certified under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Subsequently, a workshop was held to progress on joint projects.
According to an Acofarma statement, the meeting revealed the "good rapport" and a "shared vision for the future of pharmacy" between the two organizations. Acofarma and LASEMI reaffirm their commitment to boosting the growth and profitability of pharmacies, reinforcing their role as health agents.
During the meeting, two upcoming autumn events aimed at promoting the development of magistral formulation were discussed. The first is the "Formulação Magistral em Focus" symposium in Porto (October 8th), organized by Acofarma, which will cover advancements in pediatrics, palliative care, dermatology, trichology, capsule preparation, and oral health. The second event will be in Bilbao (October 21st-23rd), the III International Congress of Individualized Medicine, organized by LASEMI, with Acofarma as a sponsor.
Furthermore, both institutions have collaborated in establishing magistral formulation laboratories in sub-Saharan Africa to provide basic medicines and train local professionals. This training will be supported by two new formularies recently published by Acofarma and LASEMI: "Formulari de Bases. Dermatologia i formulació: solucions individualitzades" and "Formulació en medicina oral: solucions Individualitzades", practical guides designed to enhance the technical and clinical autonomy of pharmacists.
