Catalan influencer and travel expert Carla Domènech, 27, recently told La Vanguardia that the city where she felt most unsafe was Athens, Greece, due to a constant feeling of being at risk of theft or robbery.

The young content creator, who has traveled alone to destinations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hawaii, shared her experiences regarding safety worldwide. Despite having done volunteer work in places like Vietnam, her biggest warning is about a European capital.

"It was where I felt the worst, by far. I felt uneasy all the time; I didn't like anything about it. I don't know if I would go back."

Domènech recounted a specific incident during dinner on a central terrace in Athens, where children asked them for money and, upon refusal, began touching the food on their plates. One child grabbed a meatball and ran off.
The expert noted that insecurity in the Greek capital was not limited to specific neighborhoods but was widespread. She also expressed concern about the use of children for begging, a situation she found "quite harsh." For these reasons, she advises against solo travel to Athens.
