CE Sabadell officially announced this Tuesday the renewal of its sporting director, Lucas Viale, for the next two seasons. This contract extension will keep Viale with the 'arlequinat' entity until at least 2028. Viale has been a key figure in assembling the squads that achieved two consecutive promotions.
His primary task will soon be preparing the squad for the upcoming season in Segunda División. Viale joined the club after their relegation to Segunda Federación and has since led them to two successive promotions. During his tenure, he appointed David Català as coach, who was dismissed in January and replaced by David Movilla. Despite the eventual success, Movilla did not continue with the club due to disagreements with Viale.
In the second season, Viale placed his trust in Ferran Costa, a coach he knew from Badalona Futur. This season culminated in the promotion achieved last Friday. During the celebration, Viale stated, "The work is non-negotiable. If we fall, we get up," addressing the fans from the balcony of the City Hall.
In parallel with Viale's renewal, the club is also working on extending Ferran Costa's contract for two additional seasons, until 2029.
