The establishment, located on Carrer dels Gavatxons, has been a commercial landmark in Terrassa since its founding in 1941. Marfil was initially born from the vision of Miquel Massanès, a local entrepreneur with chemistry knowledge, who dreamed of creating his own cream and perfume factory. Although he couldn't establish a factory, he opened the shop, where he produced the items in the basement and sold them in bulk.
After Massanès's death, the perfumery was managed by his wife and daughter, Anna Maria, mother of the current owners, Mireia and Núria Llonch. The sisters, despite not studying the same profession (one is a biologist and the other a translator), took on the family legacy, practically living within the business and serving customers with dedication.
Marfil's success allowed for the opening of up to four establishments in the city, although two later shops had to close. The owners highlight customer loyalty as one of the keys to their success, based on a close relationship: "We don't just serve; we sell, attend, listen, and advise," explains Núria Llonch.
In the weeks leading up to the closure, the Llonch sisters have personally informed their most loyal customers, generating emotion and even some jokes about the loss of an emblematic business. Once they close the shop, their first plan is to enjoy a well-deserved summer vacation and a Christmas without work.
