CN Sabadell has achieved its first major objective of the season by securing, for the second consecutive time, its participation in the promotion play-offs for Segunda División. This milestone was reached after an exciting local derby against Sant Quirze, which ended with a narrow 7-8 victory for the Sabadell team. This triumph keeps them in second place in their group, a position they will need to defend in the final matchday against Les Corts.
The match was full of twists and turns. The home team initially took the lead with goals from Pol Sisteró and Antonio Cortés 'Gordillo'. However, Club Natació Sabadell reacted before halftime, leveling the score with goals from Raúl Martín and Luis García. In the second half, Sant Quirze took the lead again, but CN Sabadell turned the game around with two almost consecutive goals from Marc Pérez, reaching a favorable 4-6 thanks also to a goal from Juanfran Hervás with eight minutes remaining.
In a frantic final stretch, Sant Quirze responded strongly, making it 7-6 with goals from 'Gordillo', Álex Andrés, and Ferran Ruiz. But Aleix Molist equalized the match, and with just four seconds left, an interception by Raúl Martín allowed Luis García to score the decisive 7-8. This victory marks the third consecutive win for the Sabadell team, who maintain a one-point lead over Palma Futsal's reserve team.
Meanwhile, in the Women's Segunda Nacional, FS Sabadell Femení secured a crucial victory in their fight for permanence. The 'arlequinades' won by the narrowest of margins against the bottom-placed team, Avenida Alagón, in Zaragoza. Despite not being their most brilliant performance, Paula Raya's solitary goal three minutes from the end, capitalizing on a mistake by the local goalkeeper, was enough to secure three vital points.
With this result, FS Sabadell Femení occupies tenth position, with a four-point advantage over L'Hospitalet and Feme Castellón, who mark the permanence zone. The competition will resume on May 9 with FSSF's visit to Txantrea. A victory in the upcoming matches would be enough to secure their safety, thus avoiding an agonizing end to the league season.
