The Fundació 1859 Caixa Sabadell has completed the first phase of the renovation works at the Palau de l'Estalvi, located on Carrer de Gràcia, allowing for the reopening of its historic Modernist Hall.

This space, considered a jewel of local heritage, is once again available to host events, conferences, and cultural activities. The intervention, which began last summer with an investment of two million euros, has allowed the building to be adapted to current needs without losing its original architectural essence, designed by architect Jeroni Martorell.
The reopening is partial, as the adaptation of the ground floor and offices is still pending. These areas will be occupied by various services of the Generalitat de Catalunya, including departments of Education, Agriculture, and Social Rights. The rental agreement, planned for two decades, will provide annual revenues of 360,000 euros for the entity.
The goal of this operation is to ensure the economic sustainability of the foundation, which has faced a deficit in recent years. The Palau de l'Estalvi, built between 1906 and 1915, is listed as a Local Cultural Heritage Asset and is part of the European Route of Modernism.
At the same time, the entity has reported on the activity of the last year, recording a 10 percent increase in the number of users, reaching 208,000 visitors. These figures include the cultural and leisure proposals developed at both the Espai Cultura and the Espai Natura at the Can Deu farmhouse.
