These institutional awards date back to the Santcugatenc of the Year Awards, started by Amics de Ràdio Sant Cugat in 1982. After being known as the City of Sant Cugat Awards between 2005 and 2018, the event has become the main showcase for the city's civic vitality.
The list of winners includes international figures such as swimmer Gemma Mengual, economist Arcadi Oliveres, and philosopher Victòria Camps. It also features diverse profiles, from Teo creator Assumpció Esteban to young talents like chess player Laia Cid.
The 2024 edition highlighted solidarity and academic excellence, honoring the DANA Volunteers and mathematician Eva Miranda. The lifetime achievement award was given to theater director Dolors Vilarasau, confirming the city's commitment to local culture.
