Gender pay gap narrows in Terrassa but women still earn 4,600 euros less

A new report from the Vallès Occidental Observatory sets the city's wage difference at 14.4%.

The Vallès Occidental County Council Observatory has reported that the gender pay gap in Terrassa stands at 14.4%, representing an annual difference of 4,610 euros between men and women.

According to the report Dona i mercat de treball al Vallès Occidental, the average salary for women in Terrassa is 27,508 euros, while men earn 32,118 euros. This 14.4% gap is among the lowest in the region, alongside Rubí, and remains below the Catalonia average.
In other major cities like Sant Cugat del Vallès, the gap reaches 28.2%, the highest in the area. Meanwhile, Sabadell and Cerdanyola del Vallès show gaps of 20% and 17.3%, indicating that gender inequality remains more persistent in these locations.
The study also highlights inequalities in social protection. Retirement pensions show a monthly difference of 596 euros (37.4%), and unemployment benefit coverage is seven points lower for women compared to men in the Vallès Occidental region.
