The measure, announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, maintains limitations in the 12 municipalities within the high-risk zone (0-6 kilometers), where the 103 wild boars that died from the disease have been located. This perimeter includes Sant Cugat, Montcada i Reixac, and Cerdanyola, where access to the natural environment remains prohibited.
One of the main changes is the nightly closure of the Collserola Natural Park starting this Friday to intensify captures and verify if the outbreak has spread into the park. During the day (6 AM to 10 PM), access and activities are limited to groups of fewer than ten people, except in high-risk municipalities where access is already totally closed.
“"We have also introduced the prohibition of feeding wild boars, which might seem obvious, but we have had to do it, and also the prohibition of manipulating or removing biological control containment elements that experts are using."
In the low-risk zone, comprising 73 municipalities (between 6 and 20 kilometers from the outbreak origin), access to the natural environment is once again permitted for people and domestic animals, provided the latter are leashed. Group sports, educational, and leisure activities, as well as agricultural and forestry work, are also resumed.
The government has also authorized access to economic activities located in the natural environment, such as restaurants, sports centers, and urban gardens. Although picnic areas and parking lots do not have to be closed, daily cleaning of garbage collection points is required to prevent wild boars from accessing food.
