The iconic Morgana figure, from the Diables de Sant Pere Nord group, has undergone partial restoration following a significant attack on May 4th. The beast, currently housed at the group's premises, is nearly recovered and is set to participate in a short welcome parade this Saturday at 8 PM. On Sunday, the Morgana will travel to Centelles for another engagement.
A portion of the repair work was carried out at the Effigies Restauración workshop in Tudela, Navarra. This intervention was made possible through the collaboration of Mateo, an artist specializing in such figures, who is a friend of the group and particularly of David Moreno, the beast's original creator.
“"We didn't want what happened to be used to promote hatred. We already provided all the information to the police, and it seems the perpetrator has been identified."
Isma García, head of the Diables de Sant Pere Nord, expressed gratitude for the community's support, especially from the Terrassa City Council. García emphasized their desire not to let the incident fuel hatred and confirmed that information has been given to the police, who appear to have identified the attacker.
Initial repairs focused on the figure's external damage, primarily to the arms, armpits, and ribs, identified as its most vulnerable points. The base and the majority of the main structure remained largely intact.
The internal gas system of the Morgana still requires repair, which will necessitate another visit to a specialized workshop. The figure will also be repainted. Despite these pending tasks, the Morgana, a symbolic piece of Terrassa's 'bestiari' (traditional beasts), is now ready to return to public events.
