The concert series of the Sabadell Symphony Orchestra (OSV) kicks off at La Faràndula Theater with a diverse musical offering. Under the direction of Andrés Salado, the season will feature pieces by Beethoven, the score from The Last Emperor by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Icarus by Lera Auerbach. Pianist Alba Ventura will perform as soloist.
The opening concert will present the majestic score of The Last Emperor, an Oscar winner that blends Eastern and Western elements. Subsequently, Alba Ventura will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor”, a work redefining the relationship between soloist and orchestra.
The program also includes Icarus by Lera Auerbach, a composition premiered in 2011 that explores the intensity of the Greek myth. Finally, the OSV will perform Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, a famous patriotic piece.
The season will continue with a screening of the film Psycho with a live score on October 30th, followed by a Festival of Dances and Waltzes (January 2-3, 2027), Stravinsky's The Firebird (January 15th) featuring Abraham Cupeiro, Marco Mezquida's new piano and orchestra concerto (April 3rd), and a final concert focusing on the clarinet with works by Mozart, Gershwin, and contemporary compositions, led by clarinetist Carlos Ferreira (May 28th).
