The city of Terrassa is mourning the loss of Lluís Labòria Martorell, one of the most influential figures in its cultural and social fabric, who passed away this March at the age of 87.

Lluís Labòria Martorell was a cornerstone in the modernization of local culture. His most prominent period began in September 1965, when he took over the presidency of Amics de les Arts. During his leadership, he oversaw the merger with Joventuts Musicals and founded the Cine Club in 1966.
Between 1976 and 1979, Labòria led the organization again, turning its headquarters into a space for freedom and tolerance during the Spanish transition. He also served as president of the local branch of Òmnium Cultural from 1983 to 1987.
He was a founding member of the Ateneu Terrassenc in 1996 and was named an Honorary Member in 2022. His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, at the municipal funeral home.
