The assembly of the Terrassa Historical Studies Center (CEHT) has approved the 2025 report and accounts, as well as the budget and program for 2026. A key project for this year is the Virtual Space for Historical Memory of Terrassa, focusing on victims of the Civil War, exiles, and those repressed during Franco's regime.
During the meeting, the first Award for Commitment to Historical Research was presented to a member of the center. The award went to Rafel Comas Ezequiel, recognizing his work in recovering the history of Terrassa. The leadership highlighted his "rigor, knowledge, and generosity" as crucial to this endeavor.
The change in presidency was another significant moment. Marcel Taló i Martí has handed over the leadership to Marc Ferrer i Murillo, a member of the CEHT for over twenty years and part of its board for the last decade. Although Taló's term was not due to end for another two years, personal circumstances led to an earlier transition. Ferrer will serve as president until the remaining term is completed.
Ferrer expressed his enthusiasm for the trust placed in him by the board and members, stating that "there is no break but continuity." New objectives for the next two years include restoring the website, increasing social media presence, and reactivating a WhatsApp channel for activity updates. The aim is also to double the current membership, which stands at around one hundred.
In commemoration of the CEHT's 40th anniversary, a special celebration is planned. It will begin with the presentation of the 40 issues of the magazine Terme this Friday, June 12th, at 6:30 PM at the Historical Archive of Terrassa. The event will feature historian Òscar Jané, who will give a talk on "The challenges of local history today."
The new president also announced plans for conferences on the origins of sports in Terrassa and on medieval history. Additionally, activities such as the Local History Workshops, studies on the city's architectural heritage, and participation in the Modernist Fair will continue.
