Family preferences in Vallès Occidental have shifted during 2024, with Mateo and Sofia emerging as the top choices for newborns in the region.

The demographic landscape in the region shows a clear trend towards diversity. According to 2024 data, Mateo and Sofia tied at the top of the list with 59 babies each. They are followed by Lucía (57), Júlia (55), and Marc (54), who has lost the top spot held for decades.
The dominance of Marc, which once accounted for over 20‰ of male births, has given way to a more fragmented selection. Nowadays, names like Leo, Nil, and Pol are gaining ground, while traditional options such as Pau or David are gradually losing popularity in Vallès Occidental.
Regarding girls, the generational shift is also evident. While Laura and Maria were the favorites in the nineties, families now prefer short, internationally recognizable names like Emma, Mia, and Olívia.
