The city of Sabadell experienced an intense day of athletics and festive spirit during the Fiesta Mayor Popular Races. More than 5,500 individuals of all ages took part in an event that wound through emblematic points of the municipality, including the Sol i Padrís municipal pavilion, La Rambla, the Plaça Major and Manresa promenades, ronda de Ponent, and carretera de Barcelona.
The competition featured several categories. In the five-kilometer race, the men's victory went to Mohamed Nouri (Xafatolles de Mollerussa), followed by Marcel Samsó and Mebrat Serrano. In the women's category, Meritxel Raimundo (Lleida UA), a local resident, took first place, with Berta Galán (Joventut Atlètica de Sabadell) in second and Judith Baeta completing the podium.
The ten-kilometer race also saw local prominence. Carles Montllor (PC Team) was the men's winner, with Rubén Gómez and Leo Gil securing second and third places respectively. In the women's ten-kilometer category, Marta Cerdà (Ironwill) was the fastest, followed by Janeth Becerra and Maria Siles. Iván Moreno emerged victorious in the functional diversity category.
The event was marked by a lively atmosphere, with batucadas and music along the route, despite the high temperatures. The day concluded with children's races, which had over 600 registered boys and girls born between 2014 and 2020, reinforcing the race's family-friendly nature.
