The extraordinary assembly of the local ERC section, held this Tuesday, ratified Martínez as the head of the list. The sole aspirant received 41 votes in favor out of 44 cast, demonstrating broad internal consensus ahead of the 2027 election.
In her proclamation speech, Martínez harshly criticized the current municipal government model, labeling it "conformist" and based on "just getting by". She stressed the urgent need for a change in direction that prioritizes taking "brave" decisions for the city.
“"Terrassa does not need excuses, it needs ambition; it does not need to wander, it needs a clear direction."
The Republican candidate highlighted problems stemming from demographic pressure, citing the annual arrival of 4,000 people "expelled from Barcelona". She lamented that these new residents face deficient Rodalies (commuter train) services and rents reaching 1,300 euros for small apartments, amidst low family incomes.
Martínez raised key strategic decisions, such as defending the Faculty of Medicine and fighting for the Els Bellots II industrial estate to host "clean industry that pays people well", instead of settling for low-wage logistics. She also advocated for a strong pedestrian area to revitalize local commerce and demanded that any future government must commit to moving the city forward.
