Users of the R4 Rodalies line have faced another day of complications in the railway service between Terrassa and Manresa. On Wednesday, May 13, Renfe canceled the route connecting both cities from early morning, forcing trains to start and end their journeys in Terrassa, with delays exceeding half an hour.
This interruption affected the service between Terrassa Estació del Nord and Manresa stations. As an alternative, buses were provided to cover the route, making the corresponding stops. Additionally, from four in the afternoon, a direct shuttle train from Manresa was announced.
The main cause of this alteration was a copper theft, which occurred during the early hours between Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Molins de Rei. This incident caused significant disruptions to the entire R4 service. Adif technicians worked throughout the afternoon to restore normalcy.
In connection with the theft, the Mossos d'Esquadra reported the arrest of two men allegedly involved. The individuals reportedly fled the facilities in Sant Feliu de Llobregat in a van and were intercepted on the B-23. Adif security guards were the ones who alerted law enforcement about the presence of the thieves, who had taken approximately 150 meters of copper cables.
This situation adds to the incidents recorded the previous Tuesday, when Renfe also partially suspended service between Terrassa Estació del Nord and Manresa. On that occasion, adverse weather conditions, with heavy rainfall and hail in some areas, were the cause of the alterations. Normal circulation could not be resumed until after seven in the evening.
Municipalities such as Rellinars and Castellbisbal recorded over 36 liters per square meter in a short period, while Montserrat suffered a cloudburst with 52 liters. The rains caused landslides and the closure of the B-112 in Collbató, where the Local Police had to rescue three people trapped in two vehicles, none of whom were injured.
