A couple of weeks ago, news broke about the acquisition of UE Cornellà by a former FC Barcelona player. However, it appears that the club from Baix Llobregat was not the footballer's initial choice.
According to a football journalist on a podcast, the player had previously attempted to acquire a club in the Vallès Occidental region. The owners of Terrassa FC and CE Sabadell, however, refused to sell their sports entities.
“"The Cornellà option was not always the first. He was looking at other options."
A fellow panelist of the journalist added that the goal was to find a club with a solid structure and a strong youth academy. The journalist concluded that two different sources had confirmed the refusal of the Vallès clubs' owners to sell.
