The council has registered the candidacy for this initiative, aimed at reducing territorial and social inequalities through integrated actions in vulnerable neighborhoods. The project, to be developed over the next five years, includes 42 actions and is part of the current government's mandate commitments.
Securing funding from the Generalitat, expected in October, would accelerate and strengthen the plan, but its development is not contingent upon it. The City Council is committed to executing the program regardless of the call's outcome.
The program is structured around three main axes: urban transformation (16 actions, 18.7 million euros), ecological transition (11 actions, 1.3 million euros), and sociocommunity action (15 actions, 1.5 million euros). This integrated approach combines improvements in public spaces and housing with measures to enhance social cohesion, environmental sustainability, and educational and employment opportunities.
Planned actions include the renovation of squares and streets, housing rehabilitation, expansion of green spaces, climate change adaptation measures, sustainable drainage systems, and circular economy initiatives. Socially, programs will focus on coexistence, equal opportunities, educational and cultural activities, community health, and labor market integration.
The proposal stems from a technical and participatory diagnosis identifying key challenges such as an aging housing stock, the need for public space renewal, climate adaptation, social cohesion, mobility, and economic revitalization.
The process will continue in September with an open day in the neighborhood to present the program to residents. Mayor Ana María Martínez Martínez emphasized that the program is "ambitious, realistic, and developed from an understanding of the neighborhood," and that the municipal commitment to Les Torres remains unwavering.
