The Sabadell City Council held its official International Women's Day ceremony this Sunday at the Teatre Principal, emphasizing that the struggle for equality requires the active commitment of men.

Approximately 120 attendees witnessed the reading of the 8M manifesto, which addressed systemic issues such as the gender pay gap and the glass ceiling. Mayor Marta Farrés urged those who deny the necessity of this day to reconsider their stance, reaffirming that feminism is inherently linked to democratic values and justice.

"To be a democrat, to want equality, a better world, to believe in hope and justice is to be a feminist. We want them by our side."

Marta Farrés · Mayor of Sabadell
The event featured poetic readings by journalist Maria Xinxó and piano performances by Laura Andrés. Representatives from most political parties attended, including PSC, ERC, and Junts, alongside Olga Jiménez from the Generalitat de Catalunya. However, the far-right remained absent from the proceedings.
