The company SMATSA equipped its cleaning fleet in Sabadell with 16 new mobile defibrillators this Tuesday, becoming the first street cleaning contractor in Spain to implement such a safety measure.

The initiative, launched alongside the Parc Taulí Health Corporation, involves placing Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in eight motorcycles and eight vans. These vehicles circulate throughout the city 365 days a year, ensuring a faster response to cardiac emergencies.

"We hope they won't be needed, but it is an initiative that can help save lives. We are the first street cleaning concessionaire in Spain to launch this project."

Eugenio Díaz · General Manager of SMATSA
A total of 30 employees have been trained to operate the devices. Medical experts from Parc Taulí emphasized that survival rates improve significantly if defibrillation is performed within the first three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest.
