The initiative follows the 2017 Catalan law that declares sentences handed down by military courts between 1938 and 1979 illegal. An institutional event is planned for this autumn to deliver official reparation certificates to the victims' descendants.
Historical research by Joan Antoni Pozo in the book Sota el pes de la Victòria reveals that over 1,100 cases were opened against residents of Sabadell, resulting in 24 executions. Most of these proceedings took place during the immediate post-war period.
