The Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council officially acknowledged on Friday significant structural deficiencies in several public housing developments managed by the municipal company Promusa, affecting over 2,000 homes.

During an extraordinary plenary session, the local government (Junts and ERC) addressed resident complaints regarding mold, water leaks, and poor insulation. Deputy Mayor Bernat Picornell issued a formal apology to tenants living in substandard conditions, promising that the administration would take full responsibility.

"We apologize to the Promusa tenants who have found apartments that are not in proper condition; we assume the responsibility to resolve the situation."

To tackle the crisis, Promusa manager Jordi Núñez unveiled a maintenance strategy involving an annual investment of 800,000 euros. A long-term plan also allocates 1.32 million euros through 2030 for structural audits and repairs to facades, roofs, and communal facilities across thirteen developments.
Opposition parties, including PSC and CUP, criticized the lack of historical maintenance. The housing councillor, Francesc Duc, stated that the most critical cases are expected to be resolved by 2026, emphasizing that the necessary funding and political will are now in place.
