The workforce at Premier Foods and Meat in Montcada i Reixac has launched a series of strikes to demand 40,000 euros in back pay owed by owner Jordi Farré.

Labor tension at the Vallès Occidental facility peaked this week as employees, backed by the CCOO union, blocked the owner of Zander Foods from entering the site. The dispute stems from unpaid 2024 contract adjustments, a missing 2025 bonus, and consistently late or fragmented monthly salary payments.

Premier Foods Workers · Striking staff
Internal reports suggest that Jordi Farré is transferring assets from Premier Foods and Meat to the parent company, Zander Foods. This maneuver is seen as an attempt to avoid legal liabilities regarding worker debts. Farré, a former FC Barcelona presidential candidate, has maintained silence regarding these corporate movements.
The local crisis in Montcada adds to the group's legal troubles, including a 1.6 million euro lawsuit from Casa Vallès. The suit alleges irregular market strategies following a fire at a competitor's factory in 2023. Protests at the local plant are scheduled to continue on February 23 and 25.
