A severe windstorm affecting Catalonia has triggered nearly fifty emergency calls in Vallès Occidental this Wednesday, causing material damage in Sabadell with no reported injuries so far.

Wind gusts reached 70 km/h in the city, according to Meteocat. Reported incidents include fallen trees on Matadepera Avenue and damage to building structures and awnings in several neighborhoods, such as Himàlaia Street.

"We ask for maximum caution during this widespread wind episode that will intensify on Thursday."

The Generalitat Firefighters have responded to over 320 calls across Catalonia. In the region, Terrassa recorded gusts of 91.8 km/h, and several roads like the C-1415a were blocked by fallen trees.
Civil Protection has activated the Ventcat emergency plan. Forecasters expect the storm to peak on Thursday, with red alerts issued for twenty counties due to potentially dangerous wind speeds exceeding 30 meters per second.
